A Message from Our PE Teacher
My name is Susan Richardson. I am the PE Teacher here at Golden Empire. This is my second year here and I am so excited to be here. I have many different activities planned for this year. Getting fit and having fun doing it is what I hope your child will feel while in my PE class.
I am hoping your child will find something active to do every day for 60 minutes. Making it a habit when they are young, will hopefully carry on in their adult lives. I always tell the students that they don’t have to be an amazing athlete to be fit. Finding time to get up and move everyday will help them stay healthy throughout their lives.
Throughout the year, I encourage the students to run for cardio strength, stretch to become more flexible, and become more skilled in the many activities they try. As your child approaches 5th grade, there is a State Physical Fitness test they take. It tests their endurance in running the Pacer, pushups, curl-ups (sit-ups), and flexibility. This is something I practice with the other grades so they know what is expected.
Please let me know if your child has limitations in PE (asthma, or any other problems). You can contact me at school or email Wednesday-Friday.
Thanks for allowing me to be a part of your child’s life!
